Our Executive Search Process

Every Executive Search engagement is underlined by a meticulous and methodical approach

A typical Executive Search engagement will involve the following key steps:

  • Initially, we like to spend time with our client organisations in order to understand the intricacies of their positioning within industry, service offerings, clients, approach to business, methodologies, toolkits, culture and values. Understanding this fully is a pre-requisite to discussing the specifics of the position being recruited for. This approach then allows us to partner with the client in agreeing and drawing up a specification of the role and profile of the ideal candidate. As a complement to our core Executive Search activity, where applicable, we will discuss other options with the client such as Advertised selection.
  • Significant research activity based on a network of resources including primary research, company information, proprietary candidate database and the internet then provides the backbone of the search activity to identify the target market. This activity allows us to continually update our holistic view of the strategic marketplace in addition to examining in meticulous detail the most suitable individuals for the role in question.
  • The Tier One consultant will then review the search findings with the client and discuss the relevant individuals. Following this, prospective candidates will be discreetly approached with a view to developing their interest in the role.
  • Following initial approach, suitable individuals are screened to evaluate their suitability measured against the role specification and profile of the ideal candidate. All candidates are required to be of the highest calibre with a typical entry criteria that includes a strong track record of success extending beyond the boundaries of the work environment and dating back through time spent within academia. All academic scores including GMATs, GREs and GPAs are detailed as well as notable Extra Curricular achievements. Part of the candidate assessment process is facilitated via a Competency-Based Interviewing (CBI) approach. Whilst clients operate their own bespoke interview and case study processes, CBI provides additional insurance that the candidate will fulfil the requirements of their role. We always like to interview candidates in person wherever possible and initiate psychometric and aptitude tests where a client requests it.
  • Clients are provided with a comprehensive verbal debrief and written candidate appraisals.
  • Following close collaboration with the client the best qualified and most interested candidates are selected for interview.
  • The Tier One consultant then seeks to identify any areas that require addressing and points for further development.
  • The consultant works with the client to move the chosen candidate towards an offer by facilitating the negotiations, providing timely debriefs and managing the expectations of both parties.
